Flunder was consecrated Presiding Bishop of Refuge Ministries/Fellowship 2000 a multi-denominational fellowship of primarily African American Christian leaders and laity representing churches and faith-based organizations from all parts of the country.

Responding to the needs of the AIDS epidemic, Rev. Flunder and her staff opened Hazard-Ashley House and Walker House in Oakland and Restoration House in San Francisco through the Ark of Refuge, Inc., a non-profit agency whose purpose is to provide housing, direct services, education and training for persons affected by HIV/AIDS in the Bay Area, throughout the USA and in three countries in Africa.  Restoration House is a dual-diagnosis residential facility for African-American women and the first of its kind in San Francisco. Patrisha A. Gill, an accomplished pianist and composer, began playing by ear at age five, followed by nine years of formal lessons.
After studying at College of San Mateo and Cal-State Hayward, Patrisha began touring and playing professionally as an accompanist for Gospel singer, Lillie Knauls for three years at which time she toured both within the United States and to several international countries. Patrisha was responsible for vocal arrangements on Ms. Knauls' 1980 album,
"I'll Fly Away."

By 1984, Patrisha had composed and published several songs, four of which were recorded by popular Christian artists, John Hall, Cynthia Clauson and Edwin Hawkins. As a member of the Edwin Hawkins Music and Arts Seminar, Patrisha served as the National Mass Choir Coordinator until 1989. Responsibilities in this position included selection of original music compositions for each annual live recording, and organization and direction of mass choir rehearsals for as many as 500 singers for live Gospel recordings.

During the 1980's, Patrisha accompanied and toured with Gospel recording artist, Shirley Miller, lead vocalist on the recording, "Oh Happy Day." As accompanist and musical director, Patrisha created arrangement for background vocalists. Since 1986, Patrisha has worked with a number of recording artists including Andrae Crouch and Saundra Crouch, Richard Smallwood, Lynette Hawkins-Stephens, Danniebelle Hall and Rev. Yvette Flunder. Patrisha's contribution on several collaborative musical projects with these individuals has led to life-long professional and personal association.

In 1990, Patrisha's composition, "Solid Rock" was recorded on the Grammy nominated CD entitled, Love Alive IV, featuring Rev. Walter Hawkins and the Love Center Choir.

Patrisha has also been instrumental in a variety of music projects outside of the Gospel genre. Working with such artists as jazz pianist, Rodney Franklin at the Redondo Beach, "Concert By the Sea" series, Patrisha has performed for national corporate events including, Arby's Restaurants. In 1999, Patrisha was commissioned to compose a musical finale for the "Macy's Passport" Fashion Show which was held in San Francisco and Los Angeles, California. The tremendous success of Patrisha's composition entitled, "Extreme" has opened the doors for future corporate contracts.

Patrisha's expression of love for music education for children led to an opportunity for her to work with Silver Burdett Ginn Publishing. As a music consultant, trainer and conference presenter, Patrisha provided general music training to elementary school teachers and music specialists using the Music Connection curriculum.

Along with coordination and presenting music workshops to various school districts in Northern California, Patrisha was responsible for training and demonstrating music software on PC and Macintosh computers during California Music Educators Conference and State CMEA exhibits. Patrisha also performed by playing piano solos during music trade shows.

Patrisha has shared her musical talents in various churches throughout the Bay Area. She has also held the position of Director and Minister of Music in several churches, including Love Center Church from 1991 to 1995, Fairfax Community Church , UCC from 1995-1996, and the San Leandro Community Church from 1996 to 1999.

Earning her Bachelor of Music Degree in History and Literature from San Francisco State University, Patrisha continues her studies in music with emphasis in music history of African American culture. Presently a member and Minister of Music at the City of Refuge Community Church, (United Church of Christ), Patrisha continues to compose and arrange music for choirs and vocalists. Janice Steele's vocal career began at an early age, singing in her local church choir and on city and state music competitions. Eventually, Janice joined her brothers and sisters as part of The Steele Family; singing and performing with such gospel greats as the late Rev. James Cleveland, The Original Soul Stirrers, The Five Blind Boys of Alabama and The Hawkins Family.

In 1984, The Steele's provided vocals in the Broadway musical, The Gospel at Colonus. This Production highlighted Janice in the singing part of Antigony in theatres across America and abroad.

In 1988, Janice and her family performed a variety of material, including material from Colonus, during a four month run at the Lunt-Fontari Theater on Broadway. The attention generated from these shows led to performances by Janice and her family at Carnegie Hall, the Lincoln Center, the Today Show and many television commercials and PBS specials.

The Steeles eventually decided to broaden their singing style to include R&B. They provided background vocals for Kim Carnes, Ben Vereen, Prince, Ricky Peterson, Sheila E., Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis, Alexander O'Neal and George Petitus. In 1990 Janice left the Steeles and moved to the Bay Area where she formed a 70's band and appeared as special guest at several Bay Area events.

Henrietta Davis

This rave of soprano Henrietta Davis as Bess in "Porgy and Bess" is a more than appropriate characterization of the sum and substance of her professional journey. Like Gershwin's Bess, Ms. Davis' credentials, reputation, and body of work show her to be at once a versatile, passionate, tender, strong, affecting, and multifaceted vocalist.

The world is full of "singers," but among them there are those rare jewels who can be trusted with the heart of a song. They are marked with the ability to move from one musical genre to another with relative ease. They are as comfortable in a recording studio as they are on a live stage; in concert as in musical theatre. For you see, the song is the thing. Onstage, Ms. Davis has earned critical praise in the aforementioned "Porgy and Bess." She performed that role on Broadway and toured America and Europe with the Houston Grand Opera Company. That and her work in a production of "Phantom of the Opera" prove that musical theatre is well suited to her talent.

The "Porgy and Bess" European tour has taken Ms. Davis to cities such as Paris, Palermo and Munich. Her credits here in the United States include appearances with the Spring Opera of San Francisco, Oakland Opera and the Brown Bag Opera, and concert performances with the symphonies of San Francisco, Oakland, Baltimore, and Reno to name a few. Her vocal talents have given life to such works as "Carmen Jones," "Le Nozze di Figaro" and "La Boheme." She has thrice won awards from the Metropolitan Opera Auditions and was a second-place winner in the San Francisco Merola Opera program.

Ms. Davis is a regular soloist on Robert Schuller's television program "Hour of Power," broadcast worldwide. She is often asked to grace the stages of some of the largest churches in the United States, including the 20,000 member West Angeles Church of God in Christ, and 10,000 member Faithful Central Bible Church in Los Angeles.

Her recording credits include solos on the CD's of the Gospel Music Workshop of America's (GMWA) "Behind the Curtain," "50 Years of Praise," and most recently on the title track of Moses Hogan's "Deep River." Of the GMWA project, one critic wrote, "...V. Michael McKay's pen attributed to the title track from this latest in annual offerings from the nation's premier workshop choir...But it is surely soloist Henrietta Davis who lets herself be used as the perfect soprano instrument...She opts to deliver the lyrics in a very operatic style that at once reflects awe, grandeur, joy and reverence."

Henrietta Davis has flowered into one of the most gifted vocal artists of our time. To quote yet another review, the voice of Ms. Davis is "at all times sumptuous."
